Each fall all are invited to bring their animal companions to the front steps of the church on the first Saturday of October at 10 a.m. for our Blessing of Animals. This event is traditionally held in many churches around the world to honor the birth-day of St. Fran-cis of Assisi (Oct. 4), the pa-tron saint of ani-mals. You are welcome to bring cameras as each animal will receive an indi-vidual blessing from Rev. Haut. Of course, we ask that your dogs be leashed. Friends and neighbors are invited as well. This is our way of celebrating God’s love for “all creatures great and small.”Contact the Church Office for further information if you would like info right away!

DRCC holds a series of midweek Family Potluck Suppers each Wednesday of Lent. The Suppers are held from 6 to 7 p.m. and include a fellowship meal, worship, singing, and a fun program for all ages. Everyone is invited to bring a main dish or salad for the buffet table as well as their own plates and silverware. Coffee and juice will be available.

The Annual Women’s Valentine’s Day Breakfast is held each year on the Sunday before Valentine's Day at 8:30 a.m. The breakfast is open to all women and girls of the church free of charge, and is prepared and served by the men of the congregation. The breakfast includes eggs and ham, fresh fruit, muffins and juice. Entertainment is also offered by a chorus of Kitchen Troubadours singing romantic and humorous songs for Valentine’s Day.  Although no tickets are necessary, women of the Church are asked to sign up in advance on the bulletin board near the kitchen.

The DRCC annual Christmas Pageant, “Thy Light Is Come” is presented by the youth and children of the church each year on Christmas Eve at 5:30 p.m. The cherubs, the angels, the shepherds, the Three Wise Men, Mary, Joseph (all played by children of the Church in 5^th grade and up) and the infant Christ Child make appearances in this annual tradition. The annual Christmas Pageant has been performed for all but one of the 71 years that have passed since a former minister, Walter Euston, wrote the story for his flock. The set and costumes are very authentic and created with love by the hands of Church members. Many children come back year after year to participate in the time honored event. It is a very special service that the kids give to our community. All children and teens are invited to participate in this wonderful tradition.

Each year on the last Sunday of October, DRCC holds its Joyful Pumpkin Festival during worship services. Children and adults are encouragd to bring a Jack-o-Lantern that's painted, carved, decked out in finery, or just ORANGE! We'll have them all smiling at us from the front of the church--and you can even take yours home afterward! Kids can dress in their Halloween costumes and parade through the congregation before hearing a message about the annual UNICEF collection.  This year we even had a pumpkin toss from the top of the Church tower!!  Join us for all the fun on this special Sunday each year.

DRCC's annual Homecoming Sunday is observed each year on a Sunday in late October. As the leaves turn and the geese arrow south, we invite all members of the church to come and join us as we cele-brate our life together as a congregation. Our special guests will be our long-time members, who have been members for 25 years or longer. This long list of hon-orees will be wearing special name tags and will be included in the roll of honor to be read during the ser-vice. The longest-serving members of the church in 2013 were led by Jane Jones (1944), and Helen Rankin (1945). A group photo is taken on the church steps follow-ing the service. Come and help to honor these long-time members as well as celebrating all members of our church!

Join us at our annual Las Posadas celebration!  This annual Christmas Procession along Main St. in Deep River is held on a Sundayafternoon before Christmas. The procession is led by Mary and Joseph and their donkey in the style of the 400-year-old Mexican tradition of Las Posadas.  Everyone is invited to gather in front of the Deep River Library at 1 p.m. and process down Main St. to the church, singing Christmas carols and knocking on some doors to see if we can find shelter for Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem. In other years we have made stops at Main Street shops, private homes, and the local bed and breakfast. We have also marched into the Adams grocery store (not the donkey) and sung carols for the customers there, too.  As we return to the church, we will share in refreshments and the kids will be invited to participate in the festive breaking of a piñata. In case of bad weather, the event will take place the following Sunday week.  See our 'Events Calendar" for specific date and time!

The Board of Christian Education invites EVERYONE to help kick-off the start of our newly revamped Sunday School Mission Fair in September! Some of your favorites are back and we’ve added new ones.

All proceeds will go towards helping our community.
