Confirmation is the process of preparing for membership in our Church as an adult, as well as the completion of a process begun for many when they were baptized. As part of that promise made by their parents, children attend Sunday School and learn about God’s presence. Confirmation gives young adults the opportunity to accept those promises for themselves. We open Confirmation to those in 9th grade and older, to learn about the Church of which they are a part of and to talk about the ideas and realities that will affect their whole life. Classes start in September and Confirmands will be able to pick a mentor of their choice.

Every Confirmand is asked to prepare a Faith Statement as a culmination of their Confirmation experience. A Faith Statement is an expression of what faith means to you. This can be in the form of a poem, letter, painting, shadow box, family collage, power point, musical presentation, song or dance. Past ideas have included meaningful Bible verses on a soccer ball, a creation of a dessert, a collage, photographs and composing of lyrics.

We ask that you take time to plan and work on your Faith Statement so it is meaningful to you. Think of your hobbies or interests to get a starting point. Putting something together on the way to church on the morning it is due, will not give you the opportunity to work with your mentor on preparing this all important presentation.

You will have the opportunity to present your Faith Statement at the Confirmation luncheon and they will be on display for Confirmation Sunday.

It is not too late to join us. All those in 9th-12th grade who have not been confirmed are invited.

All Confirmands should find a mentor. A mentor should be someone that you feel comfortable with sharing stories and views. They will be with you throughout the confirmation process and will be invited to attend classes with you as well as the luncheon. Need ideas on who to ask? We can help.
