Palm Sunday
Our Palm Sunday worship service will be at 10 a.m. (There will be no 8:30 a.m. service because of the annual Men’s Palm Sunday Communion Breakfast that morning at 7 a.m.)
Our 10 a.m. service will include special music by the Senior Choir and Chancel Bell Choir, and the singing of such beloved Palm Sunday hymns as “the Palms” and “All Glory, Laud, and Honor.” The distribution of palm branches will conclude the service.

Maundy Thursday
One of the most beloved services of the year in Deep River is our Maundy Thursday Service of Tenebrae. It honors the Last Supper, Jesus’ great commandment to his disciples, and his hour of prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. The service begins with Holy Communion at 7:30 p.m., during which our 4th grade Commun-ion Class will participate in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper for the first time. Afterward the Deacons of the church will read the lessons of the Service of Tenebrae (or Shadows), extinguishing candles in the dark-ening sanctuary as our choir shares music for this holy night.

Good Friday
Good Friday is the most somber and holy day of the year, marking Jesus’ death on the cross. Come and join in our annual Soup and Bread Supper at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Our Service of the Cross follows the supper at 7:30 p.m. and includes the reading of the Passion Story and the testimony of several followers of Jesus who witnessed his crucifixion. Our choir will also offer music blessings.

Easter Sunday
Sunrise Service
Easter begins with our annual Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. on the hilltop lawn of Mt. St. John’s School over-looking the beautiful Connecticut River. This simple service is a service we share with our neighbors of the Deep River Baptist Church, the United Church of Chester, and the Winthrop Baptist Church. After the
service we are invited to gather in the dining room at Mt. St. John’s for coffee and pastry. In the event of rain, the service will be held under the portico at the front steps of Mt. St. John. The entrance to the school is at the foot of Kirtland Street in Deep River, just up from the Deep River Town Landing.

Family Service
Our Easter Family Service will begin at 9 a.m. and will include an Easter story for all ages by
Rev. Haut in place of a sermon. We will sing the great Easter hymns and our sanctuary will be decked out in beautiful Spring flowers given in memory and honor of the loved ones of our congregation.

Traditional Service
Our Traditional Easter Service, with a sermon by Rev. Haut, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Like the earlier service, it will include music by our Senior Choir and Chancel Bell Choir.

Easter Coffee Hour
An Easter Coffee Hour and Reception will be held between the two traditional services, at 10 a.m. It will include special treats prepared by members of the congregation and will be hosted by the Deacons. Stay after the 9 a.m. service, or come early before the 10:30 a.m. service, to enjoy this time of fellowship and celebration.
